How do I determine which products are sold on the Web Store?
The Product window in LightSpeed has a Web tab where you can enabled a product to be sold on the Web Store. Once you have chosen the Products you want to sell online, simply click 'Update Store' on the Web Store panel to update your site.
How do I import the photos that are used?
The Product window in LightSpeed has a Photo drawer where you can drag and drop JPEG, GIF, and PNG format graphics. You can also drag and drop graphics into Preview area of the Browser when browsing products. Finally you can capture an image using an iSight camera by clicking in either the Photo drawer or the Browser Preview pane.
How do I set the web descriptions, prices, categories and keywords?
The Web tab of the Product window in LightSpeed lets you set up a special web description or price. Categories and keywords are also set here, but can also be set by batch using Set Product Info. All of these attributes can be automatically applied by setting up Live Rules in Set Product Info and Set Selling Prices.
How do I switch the template?
The Web Store template, which is based on CSS (cascading style sheets), can be set by choosing the template in the Templates section of the Web Store panel, and clicking 'Update Store'.
Can I customize the template design?
Yes. Xsilva provides the Photoshop PSD source files for the templates so that a web designer can customize the template for your use.
How do I customize the Order Receipt email?
The text of the Order Receipt email and the mail server details can be customized on the Order Email tab of the Web Store panel.
How are taxes and shipping handled?
In Web Store 1.1, you can match a Tax Code in LightSpeed with a geographical region. As well, if you are using Tax-Inclusive prices in LightSpeed, the Tax-Inclusive price is sent to the Web Store, however, all tax calculations are performed in LightSpeed.
Web Store 1.1 also contains a shipping calculator with the United States Postal Service. To use the shipping calculator, you must register with the U.S. Postal Service.
How are credit card transactions handled?
The LightSpeed Web Store does not process credit cards live. Shoppers receive a confirmation email summarizing their purchases, but this email will not include taxes or shipping. Once an order is downloaded and taxes and shipping have been added to the order by the user, credit card information brought into LightSpeed in an encrypted form by the Web Store can be processed via LightSpeed's built-in credit card processing or via an external terminal.
Who is the Web Store intended for?
The Web Store is intended for businesses who sell products online at a low to moderate amount of volume, as orders must be processed by a LightSpeed user as they are received.
Can customers login to an account?
The LightSpeed Web Store does not have a live connection to the LightSpeed database by design to maximize security. Therefore it does not offer customer login.
Can I schedule downloads?
Yes. Web Store downloads can be scheduled in OpenBase Manager. Instructions can be obtained by clicking the 'Scheduling' button in the Web Store panel.
Can I display live inventory quantities?
The LightSpeed Web Store does not have a live connection to the LightSpeed database by design to maximize security. Therefore it does not display live inventory quantity information.
What is included?
The LightSpeed Web Store includes the Web Store Extensions for LightSpeed 2, the PHP files for your web host, the Web Store templates with Photoshop PSD source files and online documentation.
Is the Web Store secure?
The LightSpeed Web Store requires you to purchase an SSL security certificate or use a shared one on your web host in order to protect your customer's transaction data.
How can I host with?
Host your Web Store on any web host that supports PHP 5.1 with standard options enabled, or choose from a number of attractive hosting packages with official LightSpeed web host GammaStream.
What are the hosting requirements?
The web store requires an Apache web server with PHP 5.2 or greater. No web database is required. Detailed server requirements are available here. To secure your store, you must also purchase an SSL certificate.
